Description
Supra LoRad SPC 3 x 2.5 mm2- 16 A applikations
“LoRad” means Low Radiation, “SPC” means Silver Plated Copper and the design of these mains flex cables minimises both electric and magnetic alternating fields. Allow your hi-fi gear access to one of natures most powerful conductive materials there is – Silver.
LoRad protects both from alternating fields radiating from the cable as well as from pick-up of surrounding airborne noise fields, e.g. wireless and mobile phones, wifi, radio and TV broadcasts, etc. LoRad SPCis the newest development of the LoRad concept, developed to celebrate our 40Anniversary withefficient shielding, flexibility, bend-/fatigue-resistance and strength.
In addition to the physical shield incorporated in the cable design, the leads are spun in a short pitch, counteracting the magnetic alternating field that according to the physical law of inductance always surrounds a lead that carries a current. The benefits are less noise picked up by the cable and less noise that affect adjacent cables such as low level interconnects.
LoRad SPCincorporates Supra’s unique Carbon/Nylon shieldconcept. Semiconducting Carbon/Nylon shield displays improved properties, bending strength, environmental immunity, higher tensile strength and less microphonic effect. The Carbon/Nylon shieldis connected to a drain-wire along its total length, efficiently leading noise stuck in the shield to ground. We have tested and evaluated all known types of screens for making such a good cable as possible. Supra’s semi-conductive Carbon/Nylon shield was the only that passed the rigorous safety requirements and, moreover, its shielding properties was the best ever. LoRad MkII is tested and certified by Intertek Sweden, meeting the European safety regulation HD21.5 S3.
The cable must be connected to a wall socket with a ground terminal for the full LoRad effect.
N.B.Every now and then we hear about creative alternative ways to arrange an earth connection if the wall socket does not provide one. There is especially onewe would like to highlight as particularly hazardous and we hope this statement does not serve as yet another creative way. Occasionally the water heat radiators have been connected to the hi-fi gear cabinets or to a mains distributionblock groundcontact plate. This works normally from the electrical point of view.Until the following happens; one of the devices become faulty and the cabinet becomes energized with wall socket mains voltage. The water radiator system maynot be properly grounded to earth potential. Now, this means that there might not be a large enough fault current through the water pipes to blow the fuse, thus disconnecting the fualty device. Further it means that most of the pipings and radiators are energized with wall socket mains voltage. If this is in an apartment house, every neighbour tenant has potentially lethal voltage in their radiators. It will not show. Until e.g.small children touches the radiator. Westrongly discouragesfrom the above or any other way to arrange a ground connection other than according to the local laws and regulations for electrical safety.
