DLS – Audio for Life

Established in 1979 by three Music Lovers, DLS are now one of the top three High End Car Audio Manufacturers in the world and have won numerous awards in Sweden and Europe. DLS make their own drivers and Tweeters.

DLS entered the Home entertainment sector in 2003 and was joined by the famous QLN designer Matts Andersen in 2006. With a degree in Acoustics, Mats has worked in the speaker business since 1979, and is highly regarded in the Scandinavian countries.

In designing their HI-END car speakers, DLS have developed a number of proprietary technologies to get maximum performance from speakers in small / shallow automotive enclosures…. these technologies are the key to the astonishing HI-FI performance of the 3-4 inch deep FLATBOX line.

DLS insisted on demonstrating their on-wall FLATBOX speaker with stereo music. rather than distracting the senses with video images, their philosophy being ‘if it sounds right on stereo it will be wonderful in A/V ‘

Stereophile writer Stephen Mejias was impressed ‘They threw a surprisingly wide stage, despite being mounted on temporary plywood walls’.

Flatbox flexibility
Accommodating most speakers can be a real issue – especially with surround sound systems. With this in mind, DLS created the Flatbox speaker range. These are extremely thin speakers that can easily be wall mounted and have a total depth that’s little more than a typical flatscreen TV. Fitting is easy, with just a single mounting point needed and all the speakers can be hung vertically or horizontally.

Uncompromised sound quality
Despite their compact depth, Flatboxes sound remarkably good. A separate soft dome tweeter and paper/wool woofer create the dynamic response you’d expect from a proper two-way speaker. The bass reflex design ensures the speakers present an efficient amplifier load, so you don’t have to have an especially powerful amp to get the most from them.

The Flatbox Large
As the name suggests, these speakers are at the larger end of the Flatbox range. At 520 x 220mm they are the ideal size to place beside most TVs. Using twin woofer units the Flatbox Large speakers offer a deep and dynamic sound.

With superb flexibility and uncompromising sound, the Flatbox speaker range shows true depth of talent.
